Swimming is on the national curriculum
All primary school children should be given the opportunity to learn to swim.
As per the National Curriculum, upon leaving primary school, all year 6's should be able to swim a minimum of 25m unaided. The SMART Swim Centre aims to work with local schools to encourage and provide school children with swimming opportunities. Our School Swimming Programme runs during school hours, with local schools having sole use of the centre, ensuring both safety and safeguarding are being met. During the Summer school term, schools who use our centre will be able to take advantage of our FREE Year 6 Top Up swim lessons funded by the SMART Swim Centre to those children who may not being meeting the national curriculum requirements or who may need a little more development with being safe in and around water (subject to availability).
