Swimming Teacher Qualifications
STA Aquatic
Helper
Where to begin in your swimming teacher journey, if you are 13-17 years of age this is the perfect job for you.
aquatic helpers are there to gain knowledge, understanding and experience. Assisting the delivery of water confidence practices through to the introduction of strokes.
This course is to provide preliminary training to progress you in your teaching career, this will be in house on the job training,
continuous assessment and portfolio to complete.

STA Swimming Teacher Award
STA Level 2 Award In Swimming Teaching enables 16 year old's to teach up to 10 beginners or work as an assistant with larger classes. It also enables the learner to teach advanced skills under the supervision of a STA certificate qualified swimming teacher.
Requirements before you attend your course:
Be 16 years of age
Hold current membership of STA (for teachers in the Republic of Ireland -hold Water Safety Ireland membership or acceptable equivalent).

STA Swimming Teacher Certificate
STA Level 2 Certificate in Swimming Teaching is the follow on course from the STA Level 2 Award in Swimming Teaching and enables the learner to teach pupils of all levels without supervision. Minimum age is 17 years and must hold the Award qualification.
Requirements for this qualification:
Be at least 16 years of age
Hold current membership of STA
Hold the STA Award in Teaching Swimming qualification or acceptable equivalent.
This is a follow on course from completing your STA Swimming Teacher Award.

STA Award in Mermaid & Mono Fin Swimming
The mermaid and Mono Fin Award, is a different new, exciting course. The perfect way to extended your teacher training abilities.
This course your are required to hold your STA Level 2 award in Teaching Swimming Teacher. Minimum age is 16 Years.

STA Baby & Pre-School
Swim Teacher (BPS)
A stand-alone course to train individuals in the special skills required when introducing babies and very young children to aquatic activities. Minimum age is 18 years.

STA People with Disabilities
The STA Level 2 Award in Aquatic Teaching - People with Disabilities enables the candidate to teach aquatic activities to individuals and groups with most types of disabilities. Minimum age is 18 years.
